Road To Secession

Reenactor Training Weekend

Guysville, Ohio | April 10-12, 2026

A focused living-history skill-building weekend open to reenactors of all experience levels. Come sharpen your impression, tighten your fieldcraft, and learn from seasoned instructors.

Our Mission

We train together to honor the reality of the men we portray. This is not about costumes or theatrics. This is about raising standards. Every drill, every tactical, and every detail of camp life will press us to be better living historians.

  • Learn more.
  • Equip better.
  • Operate like soldiers.

The Scenario

Two armies — untested, uneasy, and too close for comfort. Scouts disappear into the dark. Nerves snap with the first shots at dawn. Confusion forces both sides to become soldiers fast.

This weekend puts you at the start of the war where uncertainty and discipline collide.

Training Focus

  • Early-war drill and maneuver
  • Field discipline and safety
  • Equipment fit and function checks
  • Scenario-driven tactical actions
  • Mentoring for new reenactors

All instruction is grounded in period manuals and doctrine.

Schools of Instruction

  • School of the Soldier – Line drill, formations, firing, alignment
  • School of the Trooper – Dismounted and mounted cavalry operations
  • School of the Scout – Recon, screening, intelligence flow
  • School of the Partisan – Small-unit irregular tactics

Designed for both beginner and advanced reenactors working side-by-side.

Tactical Operations

  • Active pickets and patrol activity between camps
  • Triggered engagements — not just scheduled battles
  • Night alarms and limited visibility ops
  • Final combined forces engagement Sunday

Expect the fog of war. Expect to adapt. Expect to improve.

Impressions & Standards

Mounted cavalry, dismounted cavalry, and infantry impressions approved based on reasonable authenticity, safety, and early-war accuracy.

  • Beginners welcome — come willing to improve
  • Units encouraged to mentor green recruits
  • Final impression approval by event leadership
